What books are required for the RYT300?
The following book is required:
- Pain Free by Pete Egoscue
The following books are highly recommended. Thes are in order of recommendation. (The first one is most highly recommended.) I don’t necessarily think you need the Trail Guide books but some students feel differently. I recommend waiting until you see the anatomy sections of the course. Then, you can see if you think the material provided with the course provide enough information or if you feel you need more physical anatomy study. It depends on your background and learning style.
- A Handbook of Chakra Healing by Kalashatra Govinda
- Postural Assessment (Hands-On Guides for Therapists) by Jane Johnson
The following books are recommended (nice to have, but not as highly recommended as the ones above):
- Trail Guide to the Body Flash Cards – must be 6th edition, volume 2 (muscles) by Books of Discovery
- Trail Guide to Movement 2nd edition by Books of Discovery
- Trail Guide to the Body 6th edition by Books of Discovery
- Relax & Renew by Judith Lasater
- Restorative Yoga with Assists by Sue Flamm
- Yin Yoga: Principles and Practices by Paul Grilley
- Yoga for Wellness: Healing with the Timeless Teachings of Viniyoga by Gary Kraftsow
- The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga: The Philosophy and Practice of Yin Yoga by Bernie Clark
The following books are great books, too. I wouldn’t necessarily buy all of these at once, but maybe select 1 or 2 that resonate with you. I particularly like Yoga as Medicine.
- Yoga as Medicine by Timothy McCall
- Trauma-Sensitive Yoga in Therapy: Bringing the Body into Treatment by David Emerson
- Yoga Therapy & Integrative Medicine: Where Ancient Science Meets Modern Medicine by Larry Payne
- Muscular Retraining for Pain-Free Living by Craig Williamson
- Somatics: Reawakening The Mind’s Control Of Movement, Flexibility, and Health by Thomas Hanna
