Frequently Asked Questions
How long do I have to complete the course and what if I need longer?

You have 12 months to complete the course. If you go over this time, you’ll need to apply for an extension. There is a fee for extending the course.

Why and when does my certification expire and how do I renew my certification?

Why: All major certifications and registrations expire and need to be renewed. We keep this best practice, which is designed to make sure all teachers are continuing their education. This helps make sure we are learning about the latest research in human movement studies and keeping our students safe.

When: Your certification is good for 12 months from the date of completion. You must renew each 12 months to stay current.

How To Renew:

1) Complete 10 hours of yoga-related studies. This can be self-study or workshops, as long as it is at least 10 hours in length. It doesn’t have to be through White Crow Yoga. It could be reading on your own or attending other workshops.

2) Purchase a certification renewal on our website. Option to purchase a hard copy certificate.

3) A ‘class’ will be added to your student portal, where you’ll tell us about your 10 hours of continuing education.

4) You’ll receive a certificate (online PDF) that is good for another year.

What is the refund policy?

There are no refunds on any continuing education courses unless we cancel the course. This is because we make a decision as to whether or not to hold a course based upon enrollment. Once we are committed, we incur expenses.

For distance study courses, there are no refunds. Once someone has the materials, we can’t refund fees because we have upheld our commitment by providing the learning materials.

For live RYT courses, there is a three (3) day (72 hour) cancellation period. Once a student enrollment form is signed, a student may make a written refund request within 3 days (72 hours) and 100% of funds paid shall be returned. All refund requests must be delivered in writing to the school. The postmark shall serve as the refund time. If the request is delivered by hand, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure he/she has a written receipt showing the date and time the request was received.  Other live RYT course refund policy is outlined below.

20 Hours: If a refund is requested within the first 20 live contact hours of 200 total hours, the student is eligible for a 75% refund, less a $150 administrative fee.

30 Hours: If a refund is requested within the first 20 live contact hours of 200 total hours, the student is eligible for a 50% refund, less a $150 administrative fee.

40 Hours: If a refund is requested within the first 20 live contact hours of 200 total hours, the student is eligible for a 25% refund, less a $150 administrative fee.

More than 40 Hours: No refunds are granted.

At the school’s discretion, students may have the option of attending the next class that is offered in lieu of a refund.

For live classes other than RYT trainings, a full refund is available if the request is made within 7 days of a training, less a 10% administrative fee. Cancellations after that period are subject to the Director’s discretion.

If we cancel any class, students will receive a 100% refund.

What is the difference between the “Teacher Training” and “Teacher Certification”?

The Aqua Yoga Teacher Training is meant to offer CECs for AEA and Yoga Alliance certified professionals. The materials consists of a manual, video and short quiz.

The Aqua Yoga Teacher Certification contains more in-depth materials. We include an anatomy component and a more in-dept pose breakdown, including common misalignments in each pose and how to correct them. You’ll also receive 10 additional class flows and 25 class themes to help you get started teaching.

Most importantly, the Certification also has an evaluation and feedback component. Those seeking certification must submit video of themselves “teaching” (teaching to the camera is fine) to pass a practical exam. Without this video component, we wouldn’t be able to evaluate your teaching skills, and therefore would not be able to offer a certification.

Is the Teacher Certification better than the Teacher Training?

It depends on what you need. If you are an experienced yoga or water fitness professional and are simply looking for fresh ideas for CECs, the Teacher Training may be all you desire. If you want a more comprehensive study or would like a review of your practical teaching skills or you need a Certification credential, the Certification program may be your best option. One is not ‘better’ than the other; they fill different needs.

Can I get a hard copy certificate?

Yes; if you take the Certification program, you may order a hard copy of the certificate, but you must add this to your shopping cart.  (Please DO NOT order a hard copy certificate for the CEC course; you can only purchase a certificate if you are taking the certification course.) You won’t automatically receive a hard copy unless you order it.  Why? Because we try to keep our cost down and if we sent these to everyone, our cost would be higher. Some people don’t care for a hard copy, so it would be wasted and we don’t want to pass a cost to you unless you specifically request it.

What about pool temps for aqua yoga?

We address this in the course materials, but the short answer is that you will learn how to add ‘warming moves’ to your routine if you are teaching aqua yoga in the same pool where you teach other water classes, instead of in a therapy pool.

What is the difference between “Online” and “Distance Study” formats?

Online: Materials are 100% digital, including PDF’s, streaming video, online quizzes, etc.
Distance Study: The Aqua Yoga Manual will be sent in hard copy as a spiral-bound book and the Master Class video will be sent as a physical DVD. Other components of the course are still digital, such as pose breakdown, quizzes, etc.

What if I need more time to complete my online or distance study course?

If you need more than the allotted time to complete your online or distance study course, you must purchase a course extension or reinstatement.

How to I send you the videos of myself teaching?

You can video yourself ‘practice teaching’ to the camera. It doesn’t have to be a live class of students. A typical class is an hour, but anywhere from 45-75 minutes is fine for your teaching video.

It is better to create 4 (four) short 15 minute video segments than one long one (easier for you to upload). After you create your videos, put them on Google Drive, Drop Box or Vimeo, grant us permission to view them and send us the link.

When and where is your next live Aqua Yoga Certification?
