Further Planning for First Visit

If your client’s pre-assessment gives you enough information and their issue doesn’t require a physical  or subtle energy assessment, you may move forward with creating a full yoga therapy plan

  • For example, if your client wants help dealing with stress, you could create a program of simple asana, meditation, pranayama, affirmations, tapping, etc
    • You’d then be ready to show give them the full program on the 1st visit
    • Many times you’d still want to do a subtle energy assessment, but you could choose to start with simple tools and postpone the subtle energy assessment

If your client’s pre-assessment requires a physical assessment:

  • You may not have enough information to complete their plan
    • Refer to “Plan 3 Take-Aways”
  • You may still have enough information before doing the physical assessment to begin a plan
    • For example, if they report a hip labral tear, you could print out a basic strengthening/stretching plan found in this program for a hip labral tear and modify it as needed, based on the results of your assessments

Remember to consider how much time they are willing to commit to a yoga therapy plan each week. This should be asked on the pre-assessment form and you’ll notice it is on the form we provided as a sample.
