All remote students should review the video. Emotional Track students should also turn in the essay. For Physical Track students, the essay is optional.

Note: This assignment is an essay asking for a summary of what you learned from the Paul Grilley video course provided to you. This is not the same as the 2nd Chakra assignment. You might use this material as a resource for the 2nd assignment, but it is different because it asks you to decide upon a very specific element of chakras to present, whereas this assignment is an overall summary of your findings.

We focus a lot on the physical body in this RYT300 course because we need a firm grasp on how we can offer concrete, easy to understand tools that our clients can quickly grab onto for help. Many times, this means asanas and exercises.

This is not always the case. Sometimes students are in a place of fear and can’t allow themselves to participate in physical activity yet, or maybe their doctor has not cleared them for movement.

Either way, if your client is participating in physical movements or not, you need to offer them other aspects of yoga therapy to help them heal. The only way we can offer these subtle energy tools to our clients is to have a deep understanding of them ourselves.

Physical movement is not more important than the other components of yoga. Asana is only 1 of the 8 limbs and they are all equally important. We spend a lot of time on it because it is harder for most students to learn the anatomy and movement nuances, but that does not mean it is more important. It is not!

Live Students: We cover subtle energy in our live trainings. You do not have an assignment here.

Remote Students: Paul Grilley has a wonderful course Chakra Theory and Meditation. You’ll be reviewing this as part of your program. You will receive an email with a code that prepays the course for you. You’ll download the course from this link.

After you have reviewed this, please write an essay (3-10 pages) to summarize what you’ve learned. What were the high points for you? What resonated with you or did not resonate with you? More importantly, how can you use this knowledge to inform your yoga therapy practice? What tools can you offer your clients? Can you think of any specific examples of clients with certain conditions where this may apply? Upload your assignment.

Note: Do not worry about formal writing in this course. Just write as if you were talking to me. If you prefer, you can video yourself discussing instead of writing but keep it to about 5-10 minutes please. I’m not reviewing your writing, so no worries on formatting, perfect grammar, punctuation, etc. Just tell me your thoughts!
